HEALTH
CARE FOR IT PROFESSIONALS.
With the revolution of computers in the world and in
India, the IT-based industry has also grown significantly. Not only the
IT-related jobs are providing employment to the young talent, they also offer
good salary and also demand less physical work. That is the reason that most of
youngsters today prefer to work in IT-related industries. But as today the less
physical involvement seems good, the very same may be producing problems at a
later date. Since working on computers requires sitting for prolong time, there
is little mobilization. Also, there are hazards of radiation from the computer
screen.
In the short term, these people have tiredness, lack
of sleep, joint pains, headache, migraine, altered posture, and visual problems
etc. Also, long and irregular working hours, rotating shifts, and night shifts
etc make them more prone to irregular bowel habits and stress. Since the IT
industry is still in its young hood, most of the people employed in it are still
young and may not feel much of the physical problems, but after a few years,
they may develop problems like spondylitis (back pain-disc prolapsed),
osteoarthritis (chronic joint pain), cervical (neck pain), sciatica (severe leg
pain) carpal-tunnel syndrome (wrist pain), and hemorrhoids (piles) etc. It is
also evident that problems like diabetes mellitus (sugar) and hypertension (high
blood pressure) are also more common with people with sedentary lifestyle.
